The Maldives

The Maldives… I am so in love with you! I could easily spend time every year relaxing on the beach in pure paradise. Now, The Maldives for us, isn’t a normal destination hot spot. It was more a once in a lifetime trip. It was, in fact, our honeymoon and I couldn’t have asked for a better destination to start our married life together.

Fact : there are 1,190 islands that make up the Maldives. I never knew that! So, when planning the honeymoon, choosing which island wasn’t going to be easy. How do you begin to choose between so many islands which are all as perfect as the next. We finally made the choice to go to Kuramathi and what a perfect choice it was. It was gorgeous. The beaches were out of his world. White sands and glorious blue seas, just what we needed after the hassle and bustle of wedding planning.

We had booked the beach house villa. A gorgeous villa directly on the beach with our own hot tub out the back. It was so lovely… yet we may have done a cheeky little upgrade for the last 3 nights in to a Water Villa. Yes, a villa on stilts over the sea. Every Maldives dream! It was the best thing we could have done on the honeymoon. Upgrading to the Water Villa took our paradise trip from a 10/10 to an 11/10. Waking up every morning to the sea certainly has a calming influence. We had our own decking area with private steps down to the sea and the most gorgeous bathroom you could ever want.

But the glorious setting aside, the food was out of this world. All inclusive was a great move and we tried very single restaurant during our stay. The fine dining restaurant being our best – you can understand why! But we also loved the Teppanyaki and fish restaurant.

Every day since we’ve been home, I think about the Maldives and long to go back… and one day we will!
