Getting a date in the diary to see your friends can be so tricky. Especially with our group, theirs 8 of us plus a baby and with all our busy schedules in can be hard, but after lots of dates being thrown around we managed to finally get a date we could all do. Sunday 7th August! A group of my closest friends spent the day together. It was so lovely to do something different and get to spend some quality time together. But not only fun but a completely inexpensive day! It started at Fabio’s Gelato in Hitchin. It’s actually owned by our friend Allen’s friend and is a fabulous gelato! Just what you need, particularly at this time of year! The different flavours are fabuous! But my favourite by far is the waffle with chocolate sauce topped with Oreo Gelato, Peanut Butter Gelato and Hazelnut Crunch! My mouths watering just thinking about it! Check them out: Fabio’s Gelato
After our gelato brunch we headed off to the Lavender Fields in Hitchin. It’s £4.50 each and you get a bag to fill with as much lavender as you can pick. There’s only so much lavender you can have in your home, but it was so fun. The smell is amazing and the purple view of the fields is beautiful. After we’d picked all we possibly could, we headed to Verulamium Park for a mini sports day. This was quite a laugh, baring in mind most of us haven’t done any sport like this since school (around 13 years ago!!). We had the egg and spoon race, obstacle relay race and then the three legged race – which Rachel and I were absolutely awful at! Then we finished with a game of rounders which, if I do say so myself, I excelled at. It was boys vs girls, which is a regular thing within our group. A bit of friendly competition between sexes, which normally results in the boys winning. But this time it ended in a draw. The only deciding factor now to find a winner was a quiz. So, it was back to Simon and Rachel’s for a BBQ and Quiz Master Voyce’s Quiz. Matt, my husband, always comes up with brilliant pub quiz style quiz’s. Every one he does is always completely different to the last and lots of fun! And of course… THE GIRLS WON!! Much to the boys annoyance!
But what topped off a lovely day was Matt and I being asked to be Godparents to our best friends little boy Oliver. We are so honored and excited to be Godparents to such a beautiful and smiley little boy! Yay!
It’s just so important to spend quality time with friends. We managed to make a fun filled day on an incredibly low budget! Get a date in the diary with your friends and think of fun, inexpensive things to do!
